Mechanical Contracting

In 2002, the directors of Promptair made an informed decision to expand their operations and become a mechanical contractor in their own right.
This decision was reached after several clients identified that the service Promptair were offering Mechanical contractors as a specialist pipework/ service/ maintenance subcontractor was generally of a higher standard than they, themselves were used to receiving.

The installation/ contracts department was launched and one of the directors- Michael Barnes is backed by a project manager, estimator, site supervisors and install crews to carry out mechanical projects.

Realizing that their steady growth required a bigger premises, Promptair relocated in 2003 to Charles St Allenby Gardens.

Since this time, Promptair have completed projects for many Builders, corporate clients, previous service clients and government departments.

Promptair have implemented and maintain a Quality Assurance System certified by the Harris Management Group and have achieved DAIS Prequalification up to and including category 3 (which allows Promptair to undertake DAIS projects less than $500,000.00)
Entrenching Promptair as a main player in the small to medium sized commercial Mechanical contractors of South Australia.

The key personnel that you will deal with when you contract Promptair’s installation department are as follows:

Installation Manager - Michael Barnes
Having completed his trade as a Refrigeration Technician and successfully completed ‘Managing for profit Management course’ Michael now represents Promptair on the executive committee of the AMCA (Mechanical Contractors Association- South Australian branch)
Michael has worked within the mechanical service industry for 14 years, before commencing Promptair with his business partner Peter Thornton.
Michael liaises with clients, consultants, builders and also forms part of the Estimating team.

Estimating Manager/ Engineer - David Mayers
David is a Sheetmetal worker by trade, having completed his apprenticeship before going on to be a leading hand.
Attending TAFE at night he has attained his certificate in Mechanical Engineering and has been an estimator since 1998.
Dave has undertaken AMCA’s ‘Managing for Profit Management course’ and is currently studying for his certificate IV in Business Management through the MBA.
With experience, Dave offers design and construction for commercial projects and undertakes minor CAD drawings.

Project Manager- Bob Gray
Bob has a sheetmetal background and has estimated in the industry for many years.
We are pleased to have Bob on board to manage our projects as his experienced and professional approach to his job will assist Promptair to undertake larger projects and allow for company growth as well as keeping our new and existing client base satisfied with the day to day running of our projects.

Assistant Project Manager- Randy Neos
Randy, with over 20 years experience brings a strong sheetmetal background to Promptair.
A sheetmetal worker / roof plumber by trade, Randy has vast supervisory and site experience, having previously worked for mechanical contractors and government departments in the past.
Randy will assist Bob with the running of projects and ensure that schedules are met, whilst continuing his training with the AMCA’s ‘Managing for Profit course.’

Our specialist subcontractors and suppliers are welcome to view the tenders we are currently pricing and are free to copy plans and specifications from our plan room which contains a digital photocopier and plan printer.
